Just my thoughts. Go back to your conservative and historical roots. The Dominicans have flourished because they have maintained their original Charism and goals set down in their constitutions. They are always seen in habits and clerical garb and their provincial novitiates are over flowing. The have a waiting list for weekend vocation retreats. The nuns who are still in habit and living according to the Dominican charism of shared contemplative and preaching and teaching have the same joyful problem of overcrowding. In other words, let the world change, let it strive to become secular but what was given to St. Paul of the Cross by God dosen`t change and will last forever. The message never changes. It is as relevant now as it was in the time of St. Paul of the Cross. Nothing can take the place of example. May the Holy Spirit Bless and guide and inspire the Passionists 46th General Chapter meeting. Pax.

As a youth myself, my voice may not represent the voices of the Passionists youth who worked closely with Passionists in different passionist ministry around the world, but gatherings like this Chapter are prepared, coordinated, organized generally, if not all, by elders of the Congregations, that is literally by the ELDERLIES who are thought to have had "pastoral experience" behind them but unfortunately no longer have the youthful breaths. I can imagine how many young participants are invited as delegates to this gathering: like the young religious from India, Africa, Philippines, Indonesia, or Latin America, Passionists entities which many think may spearhead the Passionists evangelization in the future, almost NONE. It is as usual a big irony, the elders plan, meet, decide while the young active Passionist religious are expected to execute. Delegates with great pastoral experiences and impressive missionary records are not enough, there have to be delegates who see, feel and foresee the applicability or the feasibility of the enactments.

Audacious voices like yours are admirable and should be encouraged for the greater good fo the Congregations. Yes, we should encourage Young Passionists religious, who are few compared to the senior religious, not to get intimidated at meetings and their voices muffled. Moreover, let's encourage them to ward off attitude of timidity and take on responsibilities which prepare them for major and crucial role in the future, administratively as well as pastorally.
